Window 7 - A big disaster ???

Window 7 can be a disaster and may prove a Big Failure for Microsoft. A recent survey has got the results that 6 out of 10 companies doesn't want Windows 7. They are not at all interested to purchase Windows 7 either because of compatibility issue with their existing applications.

Windows Vista has also become a big failure for Microsoft and that was the reason Microsoft came up speedily with Windows 7. Now based on this survey, it seems that Microsoft will have tough time selling its latest OS especially in this tough global economic situation.

ScriptLogic Corp - Microsoft Network solution provider, sent out this survey to approx. 20,000 IT administrators to find out about their choices.

The survey found about 60 percent of those surveyed have no plans to deploy Windows 7, 34 percent will deploy it by the end of 2010 and only 5.4 percent will deploy by year's end.

Forty-two percent said their biggest reason for avoiding Windows 7 was a "lack of time and resources."

That dovetailed with another part of the survey, which found that 35 percent had already skipped upgrades or delayed purchases to save money.

But there were reasons other than money for staying away from Windows 7. Another 39 percent of those surveyed said they had concern about the compatibility of Windows 7 with existing applications.

Chrome Vs Windows - Video

Here is an interesting video from Blogger Bunch discussing Google Chrome, Windows and OSX operating System's pros. and cons. and other latest offerings from Microsoft and Google. The discussion will probably help users little more to choose between the three OS depending on their individual requirement and easiness. The discussion over the comparison is quite interesting.

Windows 7 to XP downgrade - Speculations and Confusion

Ever since Microsoft has announced Windows 7, lots of confusion and speculations have started among the Windows XP users. Since the new units sold by Microsoft's OEM will have default os as Windows 7, people who use XP and would like to keep XP are confused over the downgrade.

Earlier this year, Microsoft refused to confirm a report which claimed that the company planned to limit the duration it would allow users to downgrade from Windows 7 to XP to six months after Windows 7 shipped.

As mentioned in ZDNET's Mary-Jo Foley's blog, Microsoft spokesperson  provided the publication with the following statement:
“Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate customers will have the option to downgrade to Windows XP Professional from PCs that ship within 18 months following the general availability of Windows 7 or until the release of a Windows 7 service pack, whichever is sooner, and if a service pack is developed.”
It has been Microsoft's age old strategy to push users to its new OS to increase the sale and promote the newer one. However,  today most of the Business Units and average Windows users are using XP and they like it even better than Vista.

It has been just couple years Vista has launched and has not been too much successful. Now with this strategy, it seems Microsoft wants users to compulsory migrate on to Windows 7 or atleast to Windows Vista.

It is to be kept in mind here that eventhough Microsoft has kept a time cap and feasibility to downgrade  from Windows 7 to XP, still the process is very costly and tedious. On the contrary, downgrading from Windows 7 to Vista is easier and hence it is suggests users to have no choice but to use either Vista or migrate to Windows 7...

Windows 7 - It's Coming, but what is new in that???

Microsoft has already released the Windows 7 RC. The first version of Windows 7 is rolling out on 22 October 2009.

After looking at few screen shots and few videos, at a first view it seems, Microsoft has not yet come out from a mentality of Physical and Cosmetic outlook of its products. It seems Microsoft is still living in the era of Desktop Wallpapers, Themes and Screensavers. Rather focusing on features, it has more emphasized on the look of the Windows 7. What Vista had, Windows 7 has something more than that. But not in terms of features, but in terms of cosmetic changes.

It felt after the release of Bing, Microsoft has really advanced itself into providing feature oriented products, but after seeing Windows 7 it seems to be a myth.

Microsoft is claiming that Windows 7 is faster, reliable and more secure than its older versions. However, most of the features are reminding me of Vista and even few of XP.

One of the few features, which I feel are considerable in Windows 7, is Paint. After many years, at last, Microsoft has upgraded the MS Paint application with little more features inside it.

More or less, it seems, Windows 7 is again an Old Wine in a New Bottle.
