Microsoft announced to stop the selling of OneCare security software on Tuesday 9th June, 09. The software giant is going to release a totally free Anti-Virus software code-named "Morro" in mid-2009.
Microsoft is not going to bundle Morro along with Windows OS. The user will have to download the software from Microsoft's website. After the Flop-Show of Microsoft One Care, it was evident to stop selling it. Releasing of Morro, the free Anti-Virus from Microsoft is considered to be a move to stay in the Anti-Virus market.
The freebie will be available as a stand-alone download and offer malware protection for the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. “Morro,” will be designed for a smaller footprint that will use fewer computing resources, making it ideal for low-bandwidth scenarios or less powerful PCs, Microsoft said its a surprise announcement.
