Michael Jackson - His death helped Internet Giants earn Millions

The "King of Pop", the Legend is no more physically among us. His soul may have rested in eternal peace. An era and the Euphoria which Micheal Jackson created, came to an end.

However, this article is not to debate or discuss about his death, his life or the controversies he created. Those have passed away. There is no point in discussing those things; actually those are totally immaterial now. But Michael Jackson was a Man we will never forget.

However, the issue I want to share is to talk about opportunism which spread across the world to gain even from Michael's shocking death.

Immediately after Michael Jackson's death, the number of searches on Google, Yahoo, Bing and many other search engines doubled and trippled. The updates and tweets on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace increased like never before. And there, people found the chance to take benefit of the traffic generated through the keywords related to MJ's death.

The internet media hype on MJ's death and related keywords gravitated the traffic people never expreinced. Someone has once said me, this is the world of Demand and Supply. People demanded information about MJ and the opportunist got a golden opportunity. Even for Internet Media and Internet companies, it became a not-to-loose opportunity as it was going to be a Historic Event. Most of the Television Media, Internet Media and Print Media companies made millions, billions and trillions through MJ's death. Especially on internet channels, search engines, social networking sites got filled with the articles, images, videos and music to hatch the Golden Eggs named Micheal Jackson's death. Micheal's death became a historic day for Internet Giants not for bad reasons, but for very very good reasons. Afterall they made money they can rarely make. This was the one golden chance for Internet and Technology Giants.

Micheal Jackson's death is a big tragedy, but the bigger tragedy is that the opportunist used his death to earn and to make millions. His death might be a big loss for few ones from his fans, relatives and friends. But it's a bitter fact that Micheal's death helped manier, much more people to earn millions.

Michael, you gave much to the world when you were alive, but you gave much more even at your death and after death!! We love you!!!

Iran put Firewall to Censor and Monitor the Internet Media

Source: Mashable
When it comes to online censorship and monitoring online activities, the first country that usually comes to mind is China and its Great Firewall. This, however, may soon change, as it seems that Iran has built one of the most advanced systems for monitoring all online traffic, with the help of technology built by Nokia and Siemens.

The Great Firewall of Iran, as it will undoubtedly be dubbed, involves deep packet inspection, a technique that examines both the header and the data part of internet data packets and can be used for eavesdropping, censorship and data mining.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Iran’s online monitoring and censorship system digs through data at one big choke point, which is made easy by the fact that the government owns a telecom which holds a monopoly over the country’s online communication. This is different from China’s Great Firewall, which is far more decentralized, but it makes it even more advanced than the Chinese version, since it’s easier to monitor traffic at one point than having to synchronize such efforts at many locations. This is enhanced by the fact that China has 300 million Internet users, compared to Iran’s 23 million Internet users......

900% increase in search term "Bing" in last 30 days - Google Insights Search Result

Google Insights for Search is a tool which Google provide to find out the most searched term / keyword on internet World Wide as well as geographically. It gives results based on Search volume with different filters such as Web Search, Image Search, News Search and Product Search. Go the link for more info.

The big thing to talk about is the results which is in the screenshot below. I did an open search today with Google Insights and the results were surprising. I kept Search Term as open - all search term, means no keyword. Let google give the highest searched term. I didn't select any geographical location, means worldwide results. I kept filter as web search with duration as Last 30 Days and All Categories.

Looking and Searching beyond Google, Bing, Yahoo!

90% of the internet users use either of these: Google, Bing, Yahoo! to search. These three have been dominating the search market for past many years. My question is how many of us know that all these three are not providing the old data? How many of us know that when their search database is regularly updated? Until and unless either of these three's robots do not crawl a website, it will not show into their results.

But what about the websites and information which are of high quality but not been crawled for whatsoever reasons?? Suppose I launched 5 different websites providing high quality & useful information but neither of Google, Yahoo & Bing crawled it?? The internet user will suffer from missing my website's information!!

The time has now come to look and search beyond Google, Bing and Yahoo!! There are no. of other search engines who are providing sepcific search results based on Verticals...

Some of the searchengines to look for are:

1. Hunch (it is the real decision engine)
2. Kayak (good for travel search)
3. Amazon (you know it very well)
4. Upcoming (for new events)
5. DeeperWeb.com
6. Indeed.com (Great for Job Search in U.S.)
7. Travelocity.com (Travel guide)

The list goes on....Look for these and you may find out them better than the Giants!!!

Web 3.0 - The Future or Path Without Destination???

It's just few months and years people have known the term Web 2.0 and the new term has started surfacing - Web 3.0. Amazing!!! The term is hardly known to normal or say non-technical user. Even a normal user harldy knows the difference between www and web 2.0 or atleast the concept. Looking at this I fell, will Semantic Web & Web 3.0 be the The Future and The Next Generation Web or just a Path Without Destination???

The increasing use of Cloud Computing, Data Centers and Structured Data & Open Source Technology is continously evolving and inventing the new horizons for the World Wide Web and every day number of new terms float on the Internet space.

With Facebook, Twitter and other online social media, Web 2.0 became popular rather than essential. It is no no different than www but just a term to define the new generation and the new internet species.

WWW leaders have different definitions for Web 3.0. Each individual defines it in his/her own terms. The question is will the new term Web 3.0 will really make any difference to the internet users??? Does Web 3.0 lead us to something new??

Semantic Web is busy defining Web 3.0 and few people have even started planning for Web 4.0 !!!! But what a normal user has to do with it? How many people are educated with Web 3.0 ??? Where does the Web 3.0 corealte itself with a human life???? There are lot many such questions...

The only thing a normal user like me can do at this time is wait and watch what Web 3.0 is all about?? What difference Web 3.0 is going to make to me when it comes to www!!!!
